Although there are several unique features related with the notion of punk fashion, the very wacky punk hairstyles continue to remain as one of the most easily familiar element of the movement and the style. The increasing rage for punk hairstyles led to a series of deviations from the original one where the hair is fashioned into outrageous shapes and molds while colored in the most dazzling shades possible. The entire array of punk hairstyles can be described as a mark of the crazy or the weird. Throughout the course of the style’s existence, some have opted for punk look only in order to be compatible with the latest trend while others have adopted it as a technique to revolt against the prevailing social order around the world. In most of the cases, the youngsters have eagerly crossed the threshold of ordinary and sported punk hairstyles creating a sensational effect.

Among the various types of punk hairstyles, undoubtedly the most predominant one is the one known as the Mohawk. Originated in the 1980s, besides being associated with punk fashion and culture Mohawk attracted a legion of followers due to the cut’s irresistibly outrageous fashion appeal. While the style has come a long way and has given rise to different variations, the one with a thick strip of hair on a shaven head is considered to the most authentic avatar of the Mohawk style. Another popular version of the same is the one where the center part of one’s hair is provided with a spiked look by applying hair gel and at times the hair strip is dyed deep in a range of colors including the most shocking shades of crimson or may be even a coy shade of pink. Along with Mohawk, Reverse Mohawk has also emerged as a popular punk hair style where as the name suggests, the hair is removed from the middle strip leaving hair on both sides of the head. Another style that is becoming quite a rage in recent times is Fauxhawk. Exemplified best by soccer icon David Beckham, it usually involves a close shave of either side of the head finally complete with a prominent spike made in the middle.
